Country Days 2022

Summer

For our summer courses, we chose the theme of ‘Treasure Island’ by Robert Louis Stevenson. Over two days, forty children in four bubbles of ten, completed eight activities linked to the theme: campfire cooking, making maps, building a base camp, obstacle courses, archery, semaphore, creating treasure, and raft building. The children were read a section of the story at the beginning and end of each day so that they  understood how each activity linked to key moments in the story.

Easter

Over the Easter holidays, we ran three one-day courses with forty children aged 7 -11 attending each day.The children took part in four activities each day: in bushcraft, they learnt to build dens; in pond dipping, they learnt to identify the creatures and plants they found in the pond; in art, they created gargoyles from clay; and in sport, they developed their teamwork, communication and leadership skills by designing their own game.

“Thank you for organising such a lovely day. The girls both thoroughly enjoyed themselves and can’t wait to go again. Clearly there has been a lot of work going into it. They said all the grownups were very kind and caring and were buzzing telling me about the activities.”

“She had such a fun day today and is already asking when she can go back. She talked non-stop about all the activities!”
